UPDATE: Since other blogs are getting on-board, I will make an official announcement Saturday Night at 7:30 EST calling for a boycott if FOX News doesn’t change this. We specifically want the words “Holiday Ornament” and “Holiday Tree” changed in the description to “Christmas Ornament” and “Christmas Tree”.
I am hereby announcing my intent to launch a massive e-mail campaign against FOX News. The only reason I’m not calling for a boycott of their network immediately is because I already don’t watch the other networks, and I do need some news to watch on TV.
This is coming from Media Matters, which claims Daily KOS broke the story, but they didn’t. It was mentioned this morning on FOX News itself. They reported that FOX News is selling “Holiday Ornaments for your Holiday Tree” on their online store. Since I am not a hypocrite, I don’t find this acceptable.
Because of this, and I’m calling for other blogs covering the War on Christmas to join me, I’m starting an e-mail campaign towards FOX, and unless things change, I will call for a boycott of their network Saturday Night. While I understand I don’t have the necessary readership or support to influence such a campaign, I am hoping other conservatives pick up on this. We cannot abandon our principles just because FOX is the only non-liberal Cable News Station.
We’ve Drafted This Sample E-Mail:
Fox News Employee,
I have recently enjoyed watching John Gibson and Bill O’Reilly’s coverage on the Assault on Christmas. They have provided America with a view that many have not yet seen, and one that I personally share. I believe there is a War on Christmas, and I believe we can win it if the public is educated and companies do what they can to keep Christmas where it belongs. That being said, it was recently brought to my attention by several websites that the FOX News store has several ornaments for sale. I was however saddened to see that your company has fell into the trap of political correctness and referred to them as “Holiday Ornaments” and in one description, said they could be added to our “Holiday Tree”. Obviously ornaments and the tree are clear symbols of Christmas. I think that FOX News should honor the reporting that Gibson and O’Reilly have put out by changing these immediately to “Christmas Ornaments” and “Christmas Tree”. If this isn’t done within a reasonable amount of time (some sites are calling for the evening of December 3rd), I intend to stop viewing your station. Please show that you care for Americans who choose to celebrate Christmas by keeping Christmas where it belongs.

I urge other conservatives to join with this cause, for two reasons. First off, to actually win the War on Christmas, and secondly, to show the other side that we stand by our principles.
Note: While I don’t believe Gibson and O’Reilly are hypocrites, I DO believe they need to do everything in their power to fix this.

I don’t know … I think they should simply drop the word “holiday” … the ornaments are about as tasteless as anything I’ve ever seen and aren’t fit to grace any tree at all … Christmas, Holiday, or otherwise. I would be more irate if they DID call them Christmas ornaments … what crass, unadulterated commercialism.
Ah, I they should call them what they are.. Chritmas TREE ornaments.
BTW, how can you be insulted, I have seen all kinds of things hung on a tree.
Also, you seem to have PURPOSELY missed the point, FNC has a war on Christmas going on against others calling things “Holiday” so it is hypocritical, that Sir is the point.
Christ Brian, calm down and get a sense of humor, would you. Your spouting typos at a high rate. I’ve probably watched Glib Gibson and flipping O’Reilly burble on this subject more than anyone on this blog. I GET THE POINT … and so does Fox … they’ve already fixed half your problem and I’m sure they will change their nomenclature for the tree in due course. I just wish they would change the ornaments … they are tasteless and rank commercialism. Each to his or her own …
:clap_tb:
Hey, I try to let my hair down in the comment section. I just find it IRONIC, and annoying, that while bitching about other comercial enterprizes in this country, their commercial enterprise did the exact same thing! I do not have a sense of humor about HYPOCRACY, no matter who participates in it.
As for their tacky ornaments, you don’t have to buy them, that is a different discussion.
Arg, I need a drink…
Looks like they got the message…or part of the message. They did a quick edit on the titles but haven’t touched the copy underneath.
I’ll go along with the hypocricy, particularly with O’Reilly’s “holiday tree ornament”. Of course, Bill doesn’t do the internet, so he probably doesn’t have a clue what his “elves” are doing.
Yep, crass commercialism as well as being totally tasteless. I wouldn’t hang one of those if they gave it to me. Well, maybe if one of the Fox babes gave it to me, personally…
How many boxes of ornaments could you get for the price of ONE of those?
They certainly got the message. As the ornaments have indeed been updated. Christmas Ornament
UB,
LTC is right about one thing…when you get fired up..you’re spelling goes haywire…lolo..too funny.
LTC,
Why would you like a FNC Christmas tree ornament?
Craig,
Look at the time on the comments. I blogged all day, and it was almost my bed time, soooo. hehe
It appears the outrage reached their eyes and ears. I had no doubt they would change it. Well, some doubt because it is a corporation after all.
I always wanted to ask you what lolo means. LOL mean laughing out loud, what does lolo mean?
Ref 7 … Brian, I can’t think of a single reason to like an FNC Christmas ornament … don’t know why you ask – I’ve noted that I think they are tasteless and crass commercialism. I never would have seen them if you hadn’t posted them here on the blog … I am pretty selective about my shopping and FNC’s shopping website isn’t a site I visit. But now that I’ve seen the ornaments, they get a big
:thumbdown_tb:
LOLO…means I type to fast and forget to stop.
I am so sick and tired of others saying we are intolerant. Why is everyone so worried about “them” being offended by every little thing and NO ONE cares if Christians are offended? Now that is hypocrisy. I sent off my emails – hope it works!
Ahhh Amy … I am not worried about offending … in fact, I rather enjoy it sometimes … with particular attention to those that are rude and lazy … such as folks that block aisles while talking on their cell phones, leave their shopping carts in unoccupied parking spaces, or knock things over and leave them on the floor! A little offending is good for the soul!… and I only know “Merry Christmas” … even when greeting the Greeters in WALMART!
I find the whole Christmas / Holiday debate somewhat mean-spirited. Not everyone is Christian, but for those of us who are, we are called to love all our brothers and sisters – regardless of their religious affiliation or “holiday” celebration. I think we should all try to concentrate on the blessings we have in our lives and the fact that celebrations, whatever you call them, are life affirming! Tidings of comfort and joy can be expressed in many different ways.
Happy Holidays, Everyone!
Most assuredly, Kevin! And to anyone that cheerfully greets me with Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, or Merry Christmas for that matter, I’ll return their greeting in spades and be appreciative of their sharing their holiday with me. The only “Happy Holidays” I resent are those that don’t come from the heart but out of political correctness. To those, Bah Humbug.
Merry Christmas!
:blank_ee:
Well Kevin,
congatulations you insulted me with Happy Holidays. Now how does that fit in with your Christian spirit?
I am not Christian, but it is still my tradition as well, and I refuse to cow to the Secular Humanists. If you wish to sit by and let them run the country, that is your business. Many of us are fed up with the movement by the minority to secularize our lives.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Yule, and secular Kwanzaa was made up!
