ARRRRRRRRRRRRR! I have already demanded an explaination! But heeeeeeeeres Jay!

Cross-posted from Right on the Right:

UPDATE: Since other blogs are getting on-board, I will make an official announcement Saturday Night at 7:30 EST calling for a boycott if FOX News doesn’t change this. We specifically want the words “Holiday Ornament” and “Holiday Tree” changed in the description to “Christmas Ornament” and “Christmas Tree”.

I am hereby announcing my intent to launch a massive e-mail campaign against FOX News. The only reason I’m not calling for a boycott of their network immediately is because I already don’t watch the other networks, and I do need some news to watch on TV.

This is coming from Media Matters, which claims Daily KOS broke the story, but they didn’t. It was mentioned this morning on FOX News itself. They reported that FOX News is selling “Holiday Ornaments for your Holiday Tree” on their online store. Since I am not a hypocrite, I don’t find this acceptable.

FNC Ornaments

Because of this, and I’m calling for other blogs covering the War on Christmas to join me, I’m starting an e-mail campaign towards FOX, and unless things change, I will call for a boycott of their network Saturday Night. While I understand I don’t have the necessary readership or support to influence such a campaign, I am hoping other conservatives pick up on this. We cannot abandon our principles just because FOX is the only non-liberal Cable News Station.

We’ve Drafted This Sample E-Mail:

Fox News Employee,

I have recently enjoyed watching John Gibson and Bill O’Reilly’s coverage on the Assault on Christmas. They have provided America with a view that many have not yet seen, and one that I personally share. I believe there is a War on Christmas, and I believe we can win it if the public is educated and companies do what they can to keep Christmas where it belongs. That being said, it was recently brought to my attention by several websites that the FOX News store has several ornaments for sale. I was however saddened to see that your company has fell into the trap of political correctness and referred to them as “Holiday Ornaments” and in one description, said they could be added to our “Holiday Tree”. Obviously ornaments and the tree are clear symbols of Christmas. I think that FOX News should honor the reporting that Gibson and O’Reilly have put out by changing these immediately to “Christmas Ornaments” and “Christmas Tree”. If this isn’t done within a reasonable amount of time (some sites are calling for the evening of December 3rd), I intend to stop viewing your station. Please show that you care for Americans who choose to celebrate Christmas by keeping Christmas where it belongs.

I urge other conservatives to join with this cause, for two reasons. First off, to actually win the War on Christmas, and secondly, to show the other side that we stand by our principles.

Note: While I don’t believe Gibson and O’Reilly are hypocrites, I DO believe they need to do everything in their power to fix this.

Victory for the Nativity Display

In a previous article I reported that Since moving into their new home three years ago, the Samona family of Novi, Michigan, has displayed a Nativity scene on their front lawn during each Christmas season. This year however, the management company of their subdivision sent them a letter demanding that they remove the Nativity scene. If they did not remove the display, the Samonas could be fined up to $100 a week until the display was removed.

Well they didn’t take it lying down, as none of us should.

From the The Thomas Moore Law Center:

Today the family received a letter from the management company informing them that their nativity display was not in violation of any rules or regulations of the subdivision and apologizing to the family for any distress they have caused. To show its regret over the incident, the company is sending the family a gift basket as a “as a token of our remorse, in the spirit of this holiday season.” The Samona family has requested that the company forward the gift basket to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society in Pontiac, Michigan.

According to Edward White, trial counsel for the Law Center who represented the family, “We are pleased the management company quickly realized the mistake it had made and corrected the matter. The Somanas are a great example for everyone. They showed that people should fight for what they believe in. I am glad the Thomas More Law Center was able to help them.”

Hurrah for the Thomas More Law Center! We need help in this crazy world of idiocy, to fight the good fight.

UPDATE: They have received an appology!

A Democrat Says Our Troops Must Stay

I was listening to Joe Lieberman on Hannity’s Radio Show, and I was very impressed. So, I went to his page to read his OpEd he wrote for the Washington Post. It is a message that needs to be heard by all of America, and the MSM have buried it.

From an OpEd by Joe Lieberman:

I have just returned from my fourth trip to Iraq in the last 17 months and can report real progress there. More work needs to be done, of course, but the Iraqi people are in reach of a watershed transformation from the primitive, killing tyranny of Saddam to modern, self-governing, self-securing nationhood unless the great American military that has given them and us this unexpected opportunity is prematurely withdrawn.

The progress in Iraq is visible and practical. In the Kurdish North, there is continuing security and growing prosperity. The primarily Shiite south remains largely free of terrorism, receives much more electric power and other public services than it did under Saddam, and is experiencing greater economic activity. The Sunni triangle, geographically defined by Baghdad on the East, Tikrit to the North, and Ramadi to the West, is where most of the terrorist enemy attacks occur. And yet here too, there is progress.

President Outlines Strategy for Victory in Iraq at the Naval Academy

This was a VERY large speech so I have taken, what I think, are the best parts of his speech. If you have the time go read the whole speech, it was good.

From The White House:

Fact Sheet: Training Iraqi Security Forces
Fact sheet In Focus: National Strategy for Victory in Iraq
Fact sheet In Focus: National Security

As we fight the enemy in Iraq, every man and woman who volunteers to defend our nation deserves an unwavering commitment to the mission — and a clear strategy for victory. A clear strategy begins with a clear understanding of the enemy we face. The enemy in Iraq is a combination of rejectionists, Saddamists and terrorists. The rejectionists are by far the largest group. These are ordinary Iraqis, mostly Sunni Arabs, who miss the privileged status they had under the regime of Saddam Hussein — and they reject an Iraq in which they are no longer the dominant group.

Not all Sunnis fall into the rejectionist camp. Of those that do, most are not actively fighting us — but some give aid and comfort to the enemy. Many Sunnis boycotted the January elections — yet as democracy takes hold in Iraq, they are recognizing that opting out of the democratic process has hurt their interests. And today, those who advocate violent opposition are being increasingly isolated by Sunnis who choose peaceful participation in the democratic process. Sunnis voted in the recent constitutional referendum in large numbers — and Sunni coalitions have formed to compete in next month’s elections — or, this month’s elections. We believe that, over time, most rejectionists will be persuaded to support a democratic Iraq led by a federal government that is a strong enough government to protect minority rights.

The second group that makes up the enemy in Iraq is smaller, but more determined. It contains former regime loyalists who held positions of power under Saddam Hussein — people who still harbor dreams of returning to power. These hard-core Saddamists are trying to foment anti-democratic sentiment amongst the larger Sunni community. They lack popular support and therefore cannot stop Iraq’s democratic progress. And over time, they can be marginalized and defeated by the Iraqi people and the security forces of a free Iraq.

Ohio Cleric to Be Deported for Terror Ties

From an AP article on

Federal authorities arrested an Islamic religious leader Friday as they began the process of deporting him for lying about ties to terrorist groups.

Imam Fawaz Damra, the spiritual leader of Ohio’s largest mosque, was convicted in June 2004 of concealing ties to three groups that the U.S. government classifies as terrorist organizations when he applied for U.S. citizenship in 1994.

That conviction was upheld in March, clearing the way for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to begin deportation proceedings.

Damra, 44, was arrested early Friday without incident, the immigration office said.

“With today’s arrest, ICE begins the process of removing from the United States a criminal alien who has unequivocally supported terrorists and terrorist organizations,” Brian Moskowitz, special agent with the federal office in Detroit, said in a statement.

The Palestinian-born Damra, who is the imam, or spiritual leader, at the Islamic Center of Cleveland, immigrated to the United States in the mid-1980s.

In Damra’s trial last year, prosecutors showed video footage of Damra and other Islamic leaders raising money for an arm of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which has been listed as a major terrorist group by the State Department since 1989.

Jurors also were shown footage in which Damra called Jews “the sons of monkeys and pigs” during a 1991 speech and said “terrorism and terrorism alone is the path to liberation” in a 1989 speech.

U.S. District Judge James Gwin sentenced the Palestinian-born cleric to two months in prison and four months in home detention. Damra served the prison time from November 2004 to January of this year.

Gwin also stripped Damra’s citizenship but informed prosecutors they could not begin deportation proceedings until after the appellate ruling.

Good riddens to bad rubbish.

Israel Wants Border Fence on Egyptian Border

From an article in the Jerusalem Post:

With the porous border with Egypt presenting a growing security threat, the defense establishment presented Prime Minister Ariel Sharon Tuesday with a plan to halt smuggling from the Sinai by building a robust security fence.

Sharon said he would bring the plan, expected to cost some NIS 1.5 billion, to the cabinet “in the coming weeks.”

Sharon got a first-look at the border when he visited sites halfway between the Mediterranean and Red Sea Tuesday, accompanied by Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz and top IDF brass. Sharon knows the border well, having led divisions across it as a general during the 1967 and 1973 wars and later as OC Southern Command.

“The assignment of the security forces in the area is to stop border infiltrations. I emphasize: Not to cut down on them, not to disrupt them, but to stop them,” Sharon said during his tour. “The handling of Israeli or foreign infiltrators is not sufficient. Israel needs to create a deterrence, and we will find solutions to this as soon as possible.”

The IDF is pushing to erect a security fence along the Egyptian border south of the Gaza Strip and around the Eilat region to halt increased attempts to smuggle in weapons and terrorists.

The fence is part of a grand project, dubbed “Hour Glass,” that envisions a formidable barrier similar to the security fence around the Gaza Strip.

I wish President Bush, and our Congress (Cockroaches) would make a strong commitment like Sharon. He left nothing to be mis-understood, he was clear and strong in his statement. We need this kind of attitude towards our border problems.
