Going to Canada? Check your past

Planning a trip?

From The San Francisco Chronicle:

There was a time not long ago when a trip across the border from the United States to Canada was accomplished with a wink and a wave of a driver’s license. Those days are over.

Take the case of 55-year-old Lake Tahoe resident Greg Felsch. Stopped at the border in Vancouver this month at the start of a planned five-day ski trip, he was sent back to the United States because of a DUI conviction seven years ago. Not that he had any idea what was going on when he was told at customs: “Your next stop is immigration.”

Felsch was ushered into a room. “There must have been 75 people in line,” he says. “We were there for three hours. One woman was in tears. A guy was sent back for having a medical marijuana card. I felt like a felon with an ankle bracelet.”

Or ask the well-to-do East Bay couple who flew to British Columbia this month for an eight-day ski vacation at the famed Whistler Chateau, where rooms run to $500 a night. They’d made the trip many times, but were surprised at the border to be told that the husband would have to report to “secondary” immigration.

There, in a room he estimates was filled with 60 other concerned travelers, he was told he was “a person who was inadmissible to Canada.” The problem? A conviction for marijuana possession.

It seems Canada understand border security, how about you?

Egypt: Terrorists planning Sinai attack

Can anyone see the future yet?

From The Jerusalem Post:

Egyptian security forces discovered on Friday approximately one metric ton of explosives hidden underground near Egypt’s border with Gaza, a security official said.

The explosives, mostly TNT that officials believe was recovered from land mines, were stashed in 34 plastic sacks, the security officer said speaking on condition of anonymity, because he is not authorized to give statements to the media. The explosives were to be smuggled to the Gaza Strip, he said.

Bedouin trackers working for the authorities led security forces to the underground hiding place in Nagaa Shabanah, a village a few kilometers south of the Rafah crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.

The discovery came on the heels of a report by Egyptian intelligence that two Palestinians armed with explosives had infiltrated Sinai and intended to carry out suicide terror attacks against tourists.

The Counterterrorism Bureau of the National Security has advised Israelis not to travel to Sinai, Army Radio reported Friday.

Friday’s terror warning followed the arrest Thursday of 23 Egyptian terror suspects, while on Wednesday, northern Sinai was on high alert after Egyptian border and security authorities arrested 3 Palestinians and Egyptians, including one who was wearing an explosives belt and had crossed from Gaza to Egypt in an underground tunnel.

For a very long time, for many generations this struggle against terrorists will continue.

Vilsack Drops Out of 2008 Presidential Race

The first casualty…

From WaPo:

Former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack, who was the first Democrat to announce his candidacy for president in 2008 but has found it difficult to raise the money needed to compete against his better-known rivals, quit the race today.

“This process has become to a great extent about money — a lot of money,” he told reporters at a news conference today. “And it is clear to me that we would not be able to continue to raise money in the amounts necessary to sustain not just a campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire, but a campaign across this country.

There will be more before the primaries, count on it.

Bodies Found, Huge Drug Busts and Murder for Hire

Cross posted from Right Truth

The North American Community is not considered a formal union of the three countries, Mexico, Canada and the United States, as the North American Union is. However, there was a February 16 conference devoted to the development of a North American legal system, according to Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media. He says, “The holding of the conference was itself evidence that a comprehensive process is underway to merge the economies, and perhaps the social and political systems, of the three countries.”

[Robert] Pastor said that he favors a “North American Community,” not a formal union of the three countries, and several speakers at the conference ridiculed the idea of protecting America’s borders and suggested that American citizenship was an outmoded concept.Wearing a lapel pin featuring the flags of the U.S., Canada and Mexico, Pastor told AIM that he favors a $200-billion North American Investment Fund to pull Mexico out of poverty and a national biometric identity card for the purpose of controlling the movement of people in and out of the U.S.

So the “conspiracy” is now very much out in the open, if only the media would pay some attention to it. (source)

One problem is that the media is not interested in this topic. Perhaps they think it’s a good idea, but are afraid to publicize the fact that is is actually a possible reality for fear Americans will stand up and protest. Imagine for one minute that there is ONE legal system for all three countries? What a disaster that would be.

The conference, conducted in cooperation with the American Society of International Law, an organization affiliated with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, was held at the American University Washington College of Law. A large number of speakers came from American University. [snip]Academic literature distributed in advance to conference participants about a common legal framework for the U.S., Canada and Mexico included proposals for a North American Court of Justice (with the authority to overrule a decision of the U.S. Supreme Court), a North American Trade Tribunal, a North American Court of Justice, and a Charter of Fundamental Human Rights for North America, also dubbed the North American Social Charter.

Do any of you want a “North American Parliament”, a permanent tribunal” on trade issues, or anything even slightly similar to the European Union, European Parliament or European Court of Justice? Talking about the suggested wall between Mexico and the U.S., Stephen Zamora of the University of Houston Law School said, “What does citizenship mean anymore?” Obviously it doesn’t mean much to Mr. Zamora. To me being an American citizen means everything. It is a matter of pride, it means we have a special history, a special form of government, a special form of legal system. All that would change with a North American Union.

Another speaker, Tom Farer, Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver said , Tom Tancredo ‘was a backward thinker’ and ‘could be seen “dragging his knuckles along the ground.”‘ I believe Tom Tancredo is a brave leader in the fight against illegal aliens here in the United States. Of course with a North American Union, there would be no such thing as ‘illegal’.

The article is long, detailed, and well worth the read. Go read it all here.

It Finally Happened ….

Via email from….. Red Hot Cuppa Politics

I listened to the Laura Ingram show this morning while making
coffee … the topic was illegal immigration.

There was a caller who identified himself as Mexican American; he
said
that while he appreciated Mexico, he was born in America, and loved
this country. He added that the illegals were “spoiling things for
everybody” — that he had friends and relatives who would love to do
anything necessary to immigrate legally, but couldn’t get through
INS. Remember, INS was the government agency which issued Mohammed
Atta an extension on his student VISA in 2002!

I’m actually not too worried about the Bank of America credit cards
for illegal aliens, mostly because I think that it’s going to be self
limited; I just think it’s another way for illegals to go into high
interest credit card debt and it will probably not be that long
before merchants, and illegals begin to understand that. The bank
gets more money, and class of serfs here in America is created.
Remember the old tried and true medieval fuedal system — the serfs
were allowed to farm property owned by landlords, and keep the fruit
of their labors, with the understanding that they pay off debt.
Paying off debt is not a bad thing, of course — but the only way
they could get seed, tools and so forth was to go heavily into debt.
Because the landlords kept it that way; prices were jacked up just
enough to ensure that certain serf families were in debt for
generations.

A better service to illegal aliens would be to just scrap the credit
cards and get serious about learning English.

IAEA chief: North Korea soliciting talks

Why have I not been talking about the N. Korea talks before? Simple I like to report the NEWs, not every detail of every story as nothing happens.

From the AP:

Under a Feb. 13 agreement, the North — which tested a nuclear weapon late last year — agreed to dismantle its nuclear facilities and to normalize its relationships with
South Korea, Japan and the United States in exchange for oil shipments, other aid and security guarantees.

The deal requires North Korea to first shut down and seal its main nuclear reactor, accept international monitors and begin discussions with the United States on its other nuclear facilities. In return, the nations will ship the North an initial load of fuel oil.

If North Korea then declares all its nuclear programs and begins to disable its nuclear facilities, it will get a much larger shipment of fuel oil and aid.

What they are not telling you is very important, the Chinese were signatories to this agreement. Why is that important? Well for one, they share a border. Secondly they are their biggest suppliers of food and heating oil aid, which they cut off after their nuclear testing. Why did they cut it off? Because China told them NOT to test a nuclear weapon and they did it anyway. So hundreds of thousands of people starved. Kim jong- mentally il has finally been humbled and now he wants to deal, because you cannot feed people with a nuke.

The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog said Friday that North Korea has invited him to visit to discuss dismantling its nuclear facilities — a sign of the country’s new willingness to subject its atomic program to outside scrutiny.

Mohamed ElBaradei, director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said he and North Korean authorities would discuss how to “implement the freeze of (nuclear) facilities” and “eventual dismantlement of these facilities.”

IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said ElBaradei would probably visit in the second week of March, after the agency board meets on North Korea and Iran, the other country of international nuclear concern.

It looks like we are getting down to some serious progress in N. Korea now! And no Mr Levin, it is not the same as the Clinton deal. Clinton did not have China on board and it was, in fact, a bi-lateral agreement, not a multi-lateral agreement. Even Chris Wallace was amazed by your statement that it was multilateral and China was involved, because you have your facts wrong; or you were spinning like a tornado!
