Mexico Travel Advisory: DON’T GO!

Cross posted from Islamanazi.com

Vacationers from Canada to San Diego are suffering increasing dangers in Mexico. The Canadian ‘Sudbury Star’
reports that a couple, Jules and Jo-Anne Lapalme, and another couple
were vacationing in Cancun and the men were accused of committing an
unstated sex offense against a female hotel employee and threatened
with arrest by the hotel manager and 4 aggressive employees. They were
told to sign a confession to “make it go away” and after refusing, the
police, who were waiting outside, came and arrested them.

These tourists were sporting expensive jewelry and the whole affair
was an obvious set-up. At the station, they were told to pay $160 to
have the charges dropped.

Sound like a fun vacation? Would you pay $8000 for that experience? They did.

Federal agents said kidnappings of U.S. citizens
by Mexican gangs in Tijuana, Rosarito Beach and Ensenada are becoming more common.

Local FBI agents told the San Diego Union-Tribune that at least 26
San Diego County residents were kidnapped and held for ransom in the
three popular Mexican communities last year, compared to 11 in 2006.

“Some of the 26 were recovered, some were hurt and some were killed.”

Back in Canada, supporters of Ontario native Brenda Martin, imprisoned
in Mexico for nearly two years without trial, are demanding their
government exercise its legal right to ask for an immediate ruling
asking that the charges against her be thrown out because her
constitutional rights under Mexican and international law had been
breached.

Two years in a Mexican prison without a trial?

Not by car, not by boat. John Long was found dead on the Mexican coast
under suspicious circumstances after setting off in his boat from
Alameda, California. The boat was aground, nearby. The Mexican
authorities, who have been completely uncooperative and have repeatedly
changed their stories, have been demanding exorbitant amounts of money
from the Longs, including $30,000 to tow the sailboat to a nearby port.

Would you expect that treatment from Canadian or U.S. authorities? Not in a pigs eye.

In May 2007, Jeff Toews, 34, of Grande Prairie, was left clinically
brain dead after suffering what his friends and family insisted was a
brutal beating at a Cancun resort. The Toews family ultimately decided
to have him removed from life support.

Mexican authorities said Toews sustained his injuries after falling
from a second-floor hotel balcony. But Toews’ family and friends, many
of whom were on the same vacation, protested the official explanation
was lies and maintained he had been brutally beaten, possibly at the
hands of hotel security guards. Friends and family accused Mexican
authorities of covering up a crime.

This is Mexico. They will kidnap you, beat you, rob you and kill
you. They’ll put you in prison without a trial. Every police officer is
on the take and so is every government official. The Mexicans have
become more arrogant with the breakdown in border security and now they
think they can do anything they want to us stupid Gringos.

And if you go there you will be proving them right.
