Supreme Court sends back ruling on Janet Jackson

Wow, I didn’t even know this was still going on. Did you?

From USA Today:

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ordered a lower court Monday to reconsider its decision tossing out a fine against CBS for Janet Jackson’s exposed breast during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2004.

In a brief order, the justices sent the case of the “wardrobe malfunction” back to the appeals court in light of a related high-court decision last week. That decision, in a case involving expletives uttered by Cher and other celebrities, upheld the Federal Communications Commission’s sanctioning of broadcast TV for even the one-time use of expletives related to sexual or excretory functions.

The justices took no position Monday on the merits of the FCC’s effort to reinstate a $550,000 fine against CBS. Their action, however, gives the agency another chance in the Philadelphia-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit to justify its indecency order against the network

So the Supreme Court would’t “view”, I mean “touch”, no, I mean consider this one, huh? This is one of the very few times that the government has the right to regulate. When it’s the “public airways”. This is one of many reasons that cable TV and now WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ordered a lower court Monday to reconsider its decision tossing out a fine against CBS for Janet Jackson’s exposed breast during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2004.

I guess the Supreme Court didn’t want to “view”, I mean “touch”, no wait I mean consider taking on this issue huh? This is one time that the government has the right to regulate something. When it’s “public airways”, subsidized by the public. Why NPR is allowed to go on is beyond me. And many have tried to squash that puppy.

This is one of the many reasons Cable TV and now Satellite TV came into being. To make money and give the folks an alternative. Ah good old capitalism. It will be interesting to see how this will turn out.

Chaos erupts in crowd at NYC ‘Top Model’ auditions

Ok, this is just insanity, this is just the measure of our country’s morality or lack there of:

From USA Today:

Three people were arrested and six others hurt Saturday after bedlam broke out while they waited to audition for “America’s Next Top Model,” police said.

Police didn’t know what prompted the chaos involving hundreds of people outside the Park Central New York hotel in Manhattan. The panic left the street outside the hotel littered with shoes and clothing, according to news reports.

“It was pretty scary,” Jessica Paravati told WNYW-TV. She said she was caught up in a stampede after waiting on line overnight, hoping for a shot at stardom on the reality show.

Two women and a man were arrested on disorderly conduct charges, police said. Authorities also shut down the audition, saying it wasn’t properly organized.

Four injured people declined treatment, while two others were taken to a hospital, the fire department said. Their conditions weren’t immediately available.

Our society has become so superficial it hurts my heart. 😦

“A coming episode of the acclaimed FX drama Rescue Me will tackle what may sound like a far-fetched plot line: that the attacks of Sept. 11 were an ‘inside job,’” Brian Stelter reported in the New York Times, noting the ludicrous plot “may represent the first fictional presentation of 9/11 conspiracy theories by a mainstream media company (FX is operated by the News Corporation).”

Yes, News Corp owns Fox News; so all ya reading this need to know that the Internet is the last bastion of truth. But ya still have to swift through the menutia, again it’s up to “we the people.” Are you up to it?
