Global economy menaced by return of living dead

This article is complicated, but a must read because it is important and effects every aspect of our lives. We must prepare people. Get out of debt if you can and become more self reliant.
From the financial times.com

The global economy is being hobbled by a new generation of zombies – the economic walking dead. American consumers are in the early stages of an unprecedented retrenchment. In the 13 quarters since the beginning of 2008, inflation-adjusted annualised growth in consumption has averaged just 0.5 per cent. Never before in the postwar era have US consumers been this weak for this long.

The zombie syndrome has an important antecedent. It was, in fact, a key symptom of the Japan disease, which led to the first of two lost decades for that country. Encouraged by the government, Japanese banks kept extending credit lines for a broad cross-section of insolvent companies – postponing restructuring and inevitable failure.

I’m loving the Zombie analogy. But it’s creepy how much Zombies are being talked about these days. Recall the CDC educational video? And the Zombie flash mobs?

China is Not Our Friend

That’s right, China is not our friend, folks and these two articles are just the tip of the iceburg.
From wnd.com

An alarming new report says the United States is choosing to rely on China for the rare earth metals that are critical for the production of America’s strategic defense weapons, giving the communist nation a chokehold on the ability of the U.S. to defend itself, according to Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

While the U.S. has the world’s second-largest reserves of the substances, instead of facilitating production, it has left China to take over the market – it controls some 97 percent of the global sales of these elements, according to the report.

The American Security Project, in fact, says the U.S. is “completely reliant on China” for rare earth metals for the production of the nation’s most critical weapons systems.

Please read the “rest of the story”. And then there is the next article which is just creepy.
Again from wnd.com

Jerome Corsi’s Red Alert reports Google Earth photographs of China depict city after city of vast complexes consisting of office skyscrapers, government buildings, apartment buildings, residential towers and homes, all connected by networks of empty roads – with some of the cities located in China’s truly most inhospitable locations.

Images of these “ghost cities” – after countless billions of dollars have been spent on the towns’ design and construction – reveal nobody lives in them.

I’ll let you, the folks, ponder why they are doing this.

Outer Space Treaty of 1967

Did you know that this treaty existed? I know I didn’t until I was researching an article for our radio show: The Uncooperative Radio Show. The article was about the UN and the fact that they had appointed an ambassador to handle space aliens when they come to earth. I should get that article up also, huh?
After all, Halloween is around the corner. Read the whole thing people, its very important.

Treaty on principles governing the activities of states in the exploration and use of outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies.
Opened for signature at Moscow, London, and Washington on 27 January, 1967
THE STATES PARTIES. TO THIS TREATY,
INSPIRED by the great prospects opening up before mankind as a result of man’s entry into outer space,
RECOGNIZING the common interest of all mankind in the progress of the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes,
BELIEVING that the exploration and use of outer space should be carried on for the benefit of all peoples irrespective of the degree of their economic or scientific development,
DESIRING to contribute to broad international co-operation in the scientific as well as the legal aspects of the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes,
BELIEVING that such co-operation will contribute to the development of mutual understanding and to the strengthening of friendly relations between States and peoples,
RECALLING resolution 1962 (XVIII), entitled “Declaration of Legal Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space”, which was adopted unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly on 13 December 1963,
RECALLING resolution 1884 (XVIII), calling upon States to refrain from placing in orbit around the earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction or from installing such weapons on celestial bodies, which was adopted unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly on 17 October 1963,
TAKING account of United Nations General Assembly resolution 110 (II) of 3 November 1947, which condemned propaganda designed or likely to provoke or encourage any threat to the peace, breach of the peace or act of aggression, and considering that the aforementioned resolution is applicable to outer space,
CONVINCED that a Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, will further the Purposes and Principles ofthe Charter of the United Nations

When you read the entire treaty, which only has sixteen amdendments, you will notice that China did not sign on to it. Which begs the question: does that mean that China can do anything is wants in space?

Obama Details Revised NASA Vision

 From Fox News:

Forget the moon, President Obama said. We’re going to Mars. Yet the President stopped short of setting specific goals, leaving a question lingering in the minds of many: When?

“By the mid 2030s, I believe we can send men to Mars’s moons and return them to Earth,” he told a crowd at the Kennedy Space Center

in Florida, near the launch pads where U.S. space voyages begin.
Armstrong and other astronauts expressed concerns over the past few days that scrapping the moon program would have deep consequences in terms of America’s standing in the world. They wrote an open letter to Obama voicing their concerns.

Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell, who signed the letter with Armstrong, told Fox News he believes Obama’s plan is “short-sighted.”

“We’re going to be a third-rate nation. China and Russia are going to be premier,” he said.

This is a profoundly bad and dangerous idea. China and Russia are not our friends, they never have been and never will be. But the Obama administration knows this, as have every administration before him. I am very afraid for this country.

Iceland expected to turn down $5.3B bank failure repay

This confused me until I read the entire article. And to tell you the truth, I had no idea how many countries in Europe bailed out other countries. And I did not know how many countries needed to be bailed out.

From USA Today;

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) — Still smarting from the crippling aftermath of the global financial crisis, grudging Icelanders were expected Saturday to vote down a $5.3 billion plan to pay off Britain and the Netherlands for debts spawned by the collapse of an Icelandic Internet bank.

The resounding “no” vote expected at the referendum is indicative of how angry many Icelanders are as the tiny island nation struggles to recover from a deep recession. The global financial crisis wreaked political and economic havoc on Iceland, as its banks collapsed within the space of a week in October 2008 and its currency, the krona, plummeted. The Icelandic government was the first to fall as a result of the meltdown.The deal would require each person to pay around $135 a month for eight years — the equivalent of a quarter of an average four-member family’s salary.

In case your not aware, this is happening to us. China and Japan own our debt. What do you think will happen to us if they want it repaid?

Last-minute talks between Iceland, Britain and the Netherlands broke down this week, despite the debtor countries saying they offered better terms — including a significant cut on the 5.5% interest rate in the original deal hammered out at the end of last year.

The British say their “best and final offer has been turned down.”

But Iceland continues to hold out for more, aware that any new deal must win substantial political and public support.

International Gymnastics Officials Say China Used Underage Girls in 2000 Olympics

China is an ancient culture. It is patient. And it is corrupt. Not all of the people of China, but most of them, and most certainly the government. It does not play by the rules of the rest of the world, and since it is one of the oldest civilizations on this planet, it “knows” it does not have to.

From Fox News;

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — China should be stripped of its bronze medal from the 2000 Olympics because one member of the squad has been found to be underage, international gymnastics officials said Friday.

Dong Fangxiao was 14 during the Sydney Games, according to FIG, the international gymnastics federation. Gymnasts must be 16 during the Olympic year to compete.

Another gymnast on the 2000 squad, Yang Yun, also was suspected of being underage after she mentioned on a television interview that she was 14 in Sydney. But all of her official documentation indicated she was 16 in Sydney.

The FIG has “canceled” all of Dong’s results from Sydney, and forwarded the results of its investigation to the International Olympic Committee. Because the case involves the Olympics, it is up to the IOC to decide if China should lose any medals.

Just like the UN, it takes years to get anything accomplished. It is 2010, people, this investigation just started this year!!! We are talking ten years before anything has just “started to Happen”. Is this the type of government agency you all want “running the world”? I need to keep more food up here on the mountain. God Help Us.

Graco Recalls Strollers After Reports of Finger Amputation

This is an FYI.

From Fox News

Graco’s Children Products Inc. announced Wednesday it is recalling 1.5 million strollers due to fingertip amputation and laceration hazards.

The following stroller models are included in the recall:

— Graco’s Passage;

— Alano;

— Spree Strollers and Travel Systems

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the hinges on the stroller’s canopy pose a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to children when a consumer is opening or closing the canopy.

Of course they don’t tell you where they were manufactured. Maybe if we go to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website we can find out more.
