Global economy menaced by return of living dead

This article is complicated, but a must read because it is important and effects every aspect of our lives. We must prepare people. Get out of debt if you can and become more self reliant.
From the financial times.com

The global economy is being hobbled by a new generation of zombies – the economic walking dead. American consumers are in the early stages of an unprecedented retrenchment. In the 13 quarters since the beginning of 2008, inflation-adjusted annualised growth in consumption has averaged just 0.5 per cent. Never before in the postwar era have US consumers been this weak for this long.

The zombie syndrome has an important antecedent. It was, in fact, a key symptom of the Japan disease, which led to the first of two lost decades for that country. Encouraged by the government, Japanese banks kept extending credit lines for a broad cross-section of insolvent companies – postponing restructuring and inevitable failure.

I’m loving the Zombie analogy. But it’s creepy how much Zombies are being talked about these days. Recall the CDC educational video? And the Zombie flash mobs?

‘Everybody Draw Mohammed’ Page Briefly Vanishes Due to Facebook Glitch

From Fox News:

The original “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!” Facebook page — with more than 80,000 followers — vanished briefly from the website Thursday, causing some users to accuse the social networking giant of censorship before the controversial page reappeared on the site.

Facebook officials said a “small technical issue” prevented users from accessing the page for a “very short period” of time.

“Once alerted to the problem, we resolved it as quickly as possible,” the company said in a statement to FoxNews.com. “We want Facebook to be a place where people can openly discuss issues and express their views, while respecting the rights and feelings of others.”

If this was communist China, or Islamic Iran this story would never have gotten out to the general population. And Facebook probably would have blocked the page from the get go. Thank God we live in The United States Of America, where we still have freedom of speech, for now anyway. If Obama and his ilk get their way, the only speech that will be allowed will be speech that they agree with and visa versa. I agree with Ms. Norris, get over yourselves Muslims.

Water, Electricity Cut Off in Mayon Volcano Danger Zone

I reported on this volcano last week and just thought I would keep ya’all updated.

From Fox News:

Fewer earthquakes have been recorded in the Philippines’ lava-spilling Mayon volcano, but the local scientists still believe an eruption to be imminent.

In response to the continued seismic activity at the volcano, Albay Governor Joey Salceda cut off the electricity and water supplies within the extended and permanent danger zones around Mayon Volcano yesterday evening, reports the Manila Bulletin.

Salceda told the paper that the move was designed to is to ensure that people remain away from their homes and out of the danger zone. Reportedly, many evacuees have returned to their homes for the New Year’s.

Iran Awaits Ayatollah’s Nod to Build Atomic Bomb

Now, while the Lame Stream Media and the rest of the world “speculates”, I will let my learned readers “decide”. After, I have asked the following questions: How do we know they do not already have such a weapon? Just because the media and the powers that be around the world say so? And, what great plan does the “world” have for stopping them if they do?

From the Times of London:

Iran has perfected the technology to create and detonate a nuclear warhead and is merely awaiting the word from its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to produce its first bomb, Western intelligence sources have told The Times of London.

The sources said that Iran completed a research programme to create weaponised uranium in the summer of 2003 and that it could feasibly make a bomb within a year of an order from its Supreme Leader.

A U.S. National Intelligence Estimate two years ago concluded that Iran had ended its nuclear arms research programme in 2003 because of the threat from the American invasion of Iraq. But intelligence sources have told The Times that Tehran had halted the research because it had achieved its aim — to find a way of detonating a warhead that could be launched on its long-range Shehab-3 missiles.

Official: Kim’s Youngest Son Apparent Successor in North Korea

Kim Jong II’s crazy offspring to ruulllle the world. Yea! Oh come on people, Brian and I have done “the story according to Kim” many times on this blog and on our Radio Show. The man is insane, so it’s not a leap to think that his offspring is “more” insane.

From Fox News:

North Korea has told top officials to pledge allegiance to Kim Jong Il’s youngest son, apparently setting him up to succeed his 67-year-old father.

A senior U.S. intelligence official confirmed South Korean media reports that the secretive communist state was sending “guidance” to its missions in foreign countries to swear fealty to 26-year-old Kim Jong Un as the next leader of North Korea.

“The directive went out,” the official told FOX News. “This guidance isn’t a suggestion — it’s an order.”

The official described the directive as a milestone in the history of North Korea. But the official contradicted a Reuters report that suggested North Korea would ratchet down tensions and enter talks over its nuclear program, having worked out its line of succession.

The “News Behind the News”, in this case is the reason that he picked his youngest son. His two elder son’s were becoming “moderinzed”. One even went to Japan without his father’s permission to go to Tokyo Disneyland, Ah, those rebellious teenagers, I mean “middle aged” children.

Indian Business Students Turn to Hitler for Inspiration

Whaaattt!

From Fox News:

“Mein Kampf,” Adolf Hitler’s autobiography, is flying off the shelves at Indian book stores as business students look to Germany’s former dictator for inspiration, the Telegraph reported.

Indian students see the book as a self-improvement and management strategy guide, sources told the British newspaper.

“Students are increasingly coming in asking for it and we’re happy to sell it to them,” Sohin Lakhani, owner of Mumbai-based Embassy books, told the Telegraph.

If anyone out there has read this, comment and let us know if this is a good management tool or they are reading this for political reasons.

Financial blogger’s arrest tests Korea’s progress on human rights

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!

From csmonitor:

Seoul, South Korea – The global economic crisis has resulted in the arrests of high-flying financial wizards on charges of stealing billions, caused economic suffering for millions, and sent thousands into bankruptcy.

Now, in this hard-driving society, touted for a “miracle” economy, the plunge has claimed its unlikeliest victim.

He’s an Internet blogger whose offense was to forecast doom and gloom laced with acerbic criticism of the government of President Lee Myung-bak, a conservative with a background in big business.

The blogger, who spread his often accurate and negative estimates under the code name Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, sits in a tiny cell awaiting his first hearing this week on charges of spreading false rumors that prosecutors say hurt the economy to the tune of billions of dollars.

At stake, though, is not so much whether Minerva, a junior college graduate with no professional credentials, skewed the economy as whether Korea may reverse 22 years of advances in human rights.

“He says the government is not reliable, is not honest and is corrupted,” says his lawyer, Park Chan-jong. “He wrote on the Internet the truth. The mainstream of his writing is true.”

The blogger was able to forecast the demise of Lehman Brothers five days before its collapse, and his blog garnered 40 million hits before his arrest Jan. 7.

Ok, ya all might think this is a bit cruel, but the way our “lame stream media” has been behaving lately, I’d sure like to put the fear of God in all of their left wing snooty lives. Responsible writing is one thing, and abuse is abuse no matter what form it comes in.

But prosecutors say Minerva – who never wrote under his real name, Park Dae-sung, but claims sole responsibility for his musings – exercised a “grave influence” on the foreign-exchange market by falsely claiming that the government was asking banks not to buy dollars. The result, they say, was market unrest responsible for the depletion of foreign-exchange reserves to the tune of $2 billion.
